Migrating Your Registry Settings
The procedures in this section are designed to save you time and effort in the event
that you are migrating to new system consoles, but they are not required to use OSM
software. The more systems you manage, the more time you can save by migrating
and leveraging your TSM and OSM registry settings. The procedures assume that your
systems will be running OSM server software instead of or in addition to TSM software.
If you install OSM on the your current TSM workstation, no action is required. OSM
automatically converts your TSM settings for use by OSM. When you launch the OSM
Low-Level Link or OSM Notification Director, you should see the same system names
that were listed in your TSM system list. When you launch the OSM Service
Connection or OSM Event Viewer from the Start menu shortcut, you should see a list
of bookmarks for those same systems in the left column of the home page.
Migrating Your TSM Registry Settings
If you are migrating to a new system console, this procedure describes how to copy the
TSM registry settings from an existing TSM workstation to a system console on which
you will run OSM. You need not have TSM software installed on the new console to
perform this procedure. OSM leverages your existing TSM system list, saving you the
time of adding those systems to your OSM system list (used by the OSM Low-Level
Link and OSM Notification Director) and creating OSM bookmarks (used by the OSM
Service Connection and OSM Event Viewer).
1. On your existing TSM workstation, select Run from the Start menu.
2. Enter regedit and click OK.
3. In the Registry Editor, navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Tandem>TSM>Configuration and select
CurrSystem.
4. Select Export Registry File from the Registry menu.
5. Enter a file name of TSM.reg and save the file.
6. Transfer the TSM.reg file to the desktop of your new system console.
7. Open the TSM.reg file. Click Yes, then click OK in the Registry Editor confirmation
dialog boxes.
8. If you have already installed the OSM client components on your system console,
close any open OSM applications and select Run from the Start menu.
Note. If TSM is installed on the new system console, your TSM registry settings also
are updated. This procedure is beneficial if you are migrating TSM settings from a
workstation where you had an extensive TSM system list to one that has a new version
of TSM or a shorter system list.
