Manually Starting and Stopping
Manually Starting and Stopping
If you do not configure OSM Notification Director to run as a Windows service, you
must manually open it every time you start your system console. To start or stop the
Notification Director manually (for the current Windows session only):
Start>Programs>HP OSM>OSM Notification Director>Start (or Stop)
Changing From Manual to Automatic
You can change the operating status for the Notification Director that you specified
during installation without reinstalling OSM. To start (or stop) the Notification Director
from running as a persistent Windows service, select:
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
In the list of services, double-click the OSM Notification Director and change the
Startup Type to Automatic if you want it to run as a Windows service. If not, select
Manual. (Selecting Disabled prevents you from starting the OSM Notification Director
at all.)
Logging On
From the Systems menu in the OSM Notification Director main window, select the
system you want to configure or log on to.
In the Log On dialog, enter a valid username and password, then click Log On or
press Enter.
You can close the OSM Notification Director main window by clicking the X box in the
upper right corner. It continues to operate as configured. To re-open it, double-click the
ND (blue telephone) icon on the Windows task bar.
OSM Guided Procedures
OSM provides the same guided procedure functionality as TSM, plus modular I/O
functionality not supported in TSM. OSM guided procedures are integrated into the
OSM Service Connection rather than being launched separately from the Start menu.
Some TSM guided procedures are replaced by OSM interactive actions. The guided
procedures that remain are launched by OSM actions. OSM guided procedures are
installed as part of the OSM Web-based Suite (T2751).
Table 5-1 describes the differences between TSM and OSM guided procedures.
Table 5-2 describes how other TSM guided procedure functionality is performed in the
OSM Service Connection.
Note. Starting or stopping manually does not change the status of the ND as a persistent
Windows service. With the next Windows session, the Notification Director runs as configured.
