Create Windows User Name
5. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel and double-click Phone and Modem
Options.
6. Select the Modems tab. If the correct modem type, Microcom Deskporte 28.8P
Plug & Play, MultiTech MT2834BA (or BL), MultiTech MT5634ZBA, or MultiTech
ZBA-USB-V90 (USB modem) is already configured correctly, skip to Create
Windows User Name; otherwise, continue with step 7.
7. The modem entry must match the physical modem vendor and model numbers.
Select the Preconfigured modem if it is not already selected (but don't delete the
Microcom or MultiTech modem if it is the correct entry and configured properly).
Click Remove, then Yes, then OK.
8. Log off of Windows, power off the modem, then power off the PC.
9. Make sure that the correct modem is connected to one of the COM Ports on the
system console. For the EVO D510, use the front USB port; for the EVO D530, use
the rear USB port (Compaq iPAQ PCs only have 1 COM port).
10. Power on the modem, then power on the system console.
11. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel.
12. Double-click Phone and Modem Options.
13. Select the Modems tab and make sure that the correct modem type is configured.
14. Click OK.
15. If any problems, check:
•
Go to Control Panel>Phone and Modem Options and make sure that the
correct modem is still configured.
•
Go to Control Panel>System
•
For Windows 2000, select the Network Identification tab
•
For Windows XP, select the Computer Name tab
Make sure that Full Computer Name of all PCs on this private network are
unique. If necessary, change the Full Computer Name and then restart
Windows. Duplicates will cause error 1066. If you change the NT Computer
Name, also change the Workstation Name field in Carbon Copy on the Comms
button, Workstation tab and restart Carbon Copy.
Create Windows User Name
1. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Computer Management.
4. Click the “+” next to the Local Users and Groups directory.
