Installing, Configuring, and Starting OSM on the
Server
Installing, Configuring, and Starting OSM on the Server
Install the latest OSM server-based SPR (T0682) for G-series.
The OSM server components are shipped on G06.22 and later. HP recommends
that you install the latest OSM server, to take advantage of continual product
enhancements. Starting with G06.25, all server-based OSM SPRs were combined
into one product number, T0682, which incorporates these earlier OSM SPRs:
Configure OSM on the server (optional).
It is not necessary to create a configuration file to use OSM with the default
settings. However, if you want to alter any default settings or take advantage of the
following OSM features, you must create and use an OSMCONF file, as described
in Creating and Using an OSMCONF File. Some common reasons to customize
your OSM configuration include:
Configuring Additional TCP/IP Processes for OSM Connectivity.
OSM has two default TCP/IP processes ($ZTCP0 and $ZTCP1) that allow the
OSM Service Connection and OSM Event Viewer to communicate with the
OSM CIMOM (server) process through the SPs (those physical connections
are made through Ethernet ports in the PMF CRUs in your NonStop S-series
server, as described in the NonStop S-Series Hardware Installation and
FastPath Guide).
When faster response between OSM Service Connection and the server is
desired, you can configure additional TCP/IP processes for physical
connections made through ports on an E4SA, FESA, or GESA (or through a
G4SA in an IOAM enclosure). To configure these optional TCP/IP processes
for OSM connectivity, you must use an OSMCONF file to specify these
additional TCP/IP processes.
Obsolete OSM SPRs
T2723 (OSM Connection Library)
T2724 (OSM Provider Interface Library)
T2725 (OSM Configuration)
T2726 (OSM XML API)
T2727 (OSM CIMOM)
T2728 (OSM Service Provider)
T2730 (OSM Event Viewer)
T2751 (OSM Web-Based Suite)
Note. If you already have a pre-G06.25 version of OSM installed on the server:
When migrating to G06.25 or later, DSM/SCM automatically identifies the obsoleted
OSM SPRs that are replaced by T0682.
When installing T0682 on a pre-G06.25 RVU that already has the obsoleted OSM
SPRs installed, you must delete them. For more information, see Installing T0682 on
an Earlier RVU.
