Get Acquainted with OSM Applications
There isn’t a precise list of tests that would cover every system configuration scenario.
This section provides a few suggested tasks and actions you can perform to get
acquainted with the OSM applications and start monitoring and servicing your NonStop
server through the eyes of OSM.
OSM Service Connection
Following the system discovery that automatically takes place when you log on, check
your system for alarms and problem attributes. The main management window is very
similar to TSM; see OSM Service Connection to learn about the differences and new
features unique to OSM (and where to find those features in the GUI).
If you find an alarm and a dial-out is indicated, check the OSM Notification Director to
view the Incident Report and confirm the dial-out has taken place.
To confirm or test your system connectivity, under the Internal ServerNet Fabric object,
try the Group Connectivity ServerNet Path Test or the Processor-to-Processor
Connectivity Test (see the online help for more information).
From within the OSM Service Connection, launch the Multi-Resource Actions dialog
box. Learn about the activities you can do by referring to Multi-Resource Actions
Dialog Box, and a select an object type on which you can check status side-by-side or
perform an action, such as firmware update.
Service providers: try Collecting Diagnostic Data (an action under the system object),
or view data that has been collected automatically. See Configuring Automatic Data
Collection, for information on when and where this data is collected and stored (based
on the default values).
For ServerNet Cluster support, see the OSM online help and the cluster manuals in the
NonStop Technical Library.
