4. Click on the General tab of the Filter Properties dialog box to specify general information about a filter. All
information is optional.
a. Enter a name for the filter in the Name box. Select Public filter check box to assign public rights to the
existing filter. If the check box is not selected, it will by default be considered as a private filter.
b. If you want to filter by message text, enter the text in the Message Text Includes box. Only messages
that contain this specified text would be displayed in the browser. For example, if you enter "error" in
the Message Text Includes box, messages will be filtered on message text that contains the word
"error," regardless of case.
c. To filter on severity criteria, check one or more check boxes in the Severity group.
d. To filter on ownership criteria, check one or more check boxes in the Ownership group.
e. In the Condition criteria, check the Unmatched and/or Matched check boxes to filter for messages that
either match or do not match any of the message conditions or suppressed conditions defined in the
policies deployed on the managed nodes. Inform your administrator of any unmatched messages so
that the corresponding message can be improved or corrective action provided.
You can combine several filtering criteria in one filter. For example, you could select both critical severity
and unmatched criteria.
