BASE24
BASE24 Monitoring
Select the BASE24 Monitoring check
box if the BASE24 Plug-In is already
installed on the system.
Checking this option will allow the
addition of BASE24 distributor to the
OCC screen and start the processing of
BASE24 events. Selecting the option
enables other fields in the tab page.
Deselecting the option will after
activating BASE24 monitoring will lead
to removal of the BASE24 distributor
from the OCC tab page and the
processing of the BASE24 events would
cease.
Close TDF
The Close TDF option is used to specify
whether OVNM will open the TDF file to
read the process thresholds anytime or
only when necessary, that is, when the
polling interval expires. To open the
TDF file only when necessary, check the
Close TDF box.
BASE24 Options
Use the BASE24 Options drop-down
box to specify the load balancing
options.
Use only 1 CPU for all objects: To
single-thread the BASE24
monitoring through a single
connection to the BASE24
environment. This option is selected
by default.
Distribute objects across all CPUs:
To distribute all objects across all
CPUs resulting in multiple opens to
the BASE24 environment, but better
load balancing.
ListObjects in 1 CPU, others across
all CPUs: To place the objects to be
monitored via the ListObject
command into a single CPU, but
balance the other objects across
the available CPUs.
It is HIGHLY recommended that you
select the “use only 1 CPU” option. This
reduces the concurrent messages that
OVNM would send to XPNET if you
allow it to spread the objects across
CPUs.
Use LISTOBJECTS
for BASE24
OVNM also provides the option of
using the ListObjects command for
monitoring instead of the Status
command. Use the various check boxes
in the Use LISTOBJECTS for BASE24
area
to select the BASE24 objects to be
monitored via the ListObjects command.
In some cases, using ListObjects
command is more efficient.
It is HIGHLY recommended that you do
NOT select any of the Listobjects
options. The default method that OVNM
uses to communicate with BASE24 has
been shown to be more efficient than
using ListObjects commands.
