Appendix B: EMS Message Handling
This appendix contains an example of setting up an EMS event for forwarding to the HP Operations environment.
In this example, we will use the event logged by the Expand subsystem when a line is started. The highlight of the
example is the ability to customize the event text and the ability to assign Service-ID for the event that will be
propagated to the Service View in the HPOM panel.
1. Select the EMS subsystem in the Object Class pane and Click the New Configuration option in the
Threshold menu.

2. Clicking the New Configuration option displays the Threshold dialog box. This dialog box is used to
specify the Object and Threshold details. Use the Help button in the Threshold dialog box to get help on
how to create a threshold configuration for a NonStop EMS event.
