2-20 SPOOLER
The spooler subsystem is a set of utilities that form an interface between you (and your application programs) and
the print devices on a system. The spooler receives output from an application and stores the data on disk. When
the print device is available the output is sent to that device for printing. Predefined counters/modifiers help in
managing this important subsystem.
2-20-1 OBJECT CLASS: COLLECTOR
Policy
Description
Operators Allowed
BACKUP CPU ASSIGNED
BACKUP CPU ASSIGNED allows the user to check
the Backup CPU number assigned to the Collector
Process.
Equal to <value1>
Not equal to <value1>
BATCH JOB COUNT This threshold allows the user to check on the
number of BATCH Jobs for a given user. If the nbr
of BATCH jobs is greater than value2, then it will
generate an alert. Use 999 when you want to use
*. Example: 255999 = Super.*.
For User <value1> Jobs Count greater
than <value2>
COLLECTOR FILE
PERCENT_FULL
COLLECTOR FILE PERCENT_FULL allows the user to
check how much percentage of the Collector data
file is actually in use.
Equal to <value1>
Not equal to <value1>
Less than <value1>
Less than or equal to <value1>
Greater than <value1>
Greater than or equal to <value1>
Greater than <value1> and less than
<value2>
Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
JOB COUNT JOB COUNT threshold type allows the user to
check the number of jobs in a device queue for a
user. If number of jobs of user, <value1> is greater
than <value 2> only then OVNM will treat it as a
violation.
For User <value1> Jobs Count greater
than <value2>
PERCENT BATCH JOBS USED
This threshold allows the user to check on the
TOTAL number of jobs associated with a BATCH in
the spooler. Object MUST be * (and is not used).
The total spans all collectors for the spooler.
Equal to <value1>
Not equal to <value1>
Less than <value1>
Less than or equal to <value1>
Greater than <value1>
Greater than or equal to <value1>
Greater than <value1> and less than
<value2>
Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
PERCENT JOBS USED This threshold allows the user to check on the
TOTAL number of jobs in the spooler. Object
MUST be * (and is not used). The total spans all
collectors for the spooler.
Equal to <value1>
Not equal to <value1>
Less than <value1>
Less than or equal to <value1>
Greater than <value1>
Greater than or equal to <value1>
Greater than <value1> and less than
<value2>
Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
PRIMARY CPU ASSIGNED
PRIMARY CPU ASSIGNED allows the user to check
the Primary CPU number assigned to the Process.
Equal to <value1>
Not equal to <value1>
