OVNM 5.3 - Operations Agent for NonStop Object Reference Guide
Threshold Policies 125
2-22 TAPE
This subsystem supervises all tape operations within the HP NonStop NSK platform. Counters such as ‘Mounts’
are predefined and are simple to set up.
2-22-1 OBJECT CLASS: TAPE
Policy
Description
Operators Allowed
MOUNTS OUTSTANDING
MOUNTS OUTSTANDING allows the user to check the
outstanding Tape mounts. If there are any outstanding,
OVNM will treat it as a violation state.
No operator.
NOTE:
OVNM adds a dummy object, AnyDrive, if you add a MOUNT OUTSTANDING threshold using * or
$* as the object name. The dummy object can be listed in OCC. If the AnyDrive object is not listed, then no
notification will be sent when the tape mount is outstanding
. The notification will be sent only when it is
resolved. Therefore, you will need to delete and add your MOUNTS OUTSTADING threshold again. The drive
name in the EMS messages will be AnyDrive when there is no specific tape drive associated with the mount
message.
2-23 TCPIP
The S-Series NSK HP NonStop platform uses TCPIP as a major protocol to communicate. TCPIP stacks or
processes need to be monitored closely and actively. This subsystem achieves that through predefined counters
and modifiers.
2-23-1 OBJECT CLASS: FOREIGN-PORT
Policy
Description
Operators Allowed
CLOSE-WAIT
CLOSE-WAIT allows you to check if the PORT is CLOSE-
WAIT (waiting for a terminate connection request from the
local user). To mention specific port, enter PORT;IPADDR.
• EQUAL TO
• NOT EQUAL TO
ESTABLISHED
ESTABLISHED allows the user to check if PORT is
ESTABLISHED (there is an open connection and the user can
send and receive data). To mention specific port, enter
PORT;IPADDR.
• EQUAL TO
• NOT EQUAL TO
FIN-WAIT (1 OR 2)
FIN-WAIT (1 OR 2) allows the user to check if the Port is
waiting for a connection termination request from the remote
TCP or is waiting for a termination of data to be received
after sending a FIN. To mention specific port, enter
PORT;IPADDR.
No operator.
LISTENING
LISTENING allows the user to check if the PORT is
LISTENING (waiting for a connection request from any
remote TCP site). To mention specific port, enter
PORT;IPADDR.
No operator.
NOT LISTENING
NOT LISTENING allows the user to check if the PORT is
NOT LISTENING (not waiting for a connection request from
any remote TCP site). To mention specific port, enter
PORT;IPADDR.
No operator.
PORT DOES NOT EXIST
PORT DOES NOT EXIST allows the user to raise an alert if
the port number specified is not found. To mention specific
port, enter PORT;IPADDR.
No operator.
TIME-WAIT
TIME-WAIT allows the user to check if the port is waiting for
sufficient time to pass (about 2 round trips) to be sure that
stray packets are flushed from the network. To mention
specific port, enter PORT;IPADDR.
