OVNM 5.3 - Operations Agent for NonStop Object Reference Guide

Threshold Events 235
4 Threshold Events
The SSID for all the events generated by the Monitoring Gateway of OVNM, by default, is TANDEM.253.
However, it can also be the SSID number as defined in the SUBSYSTEMOWNER and SUBSYSTEMNUMBER
parameters in the OCCCONF configuration file.
The OVNM Monitoring Gateway, depending on the threshold types and values the user sets for the different
subsystems and objects to be monitored can generate three types of EMS events. The event types and their
templates have been described here.
1. Normal events
Events generated when a monitored object is found to be in a manner expected by the user. The template
for these events is the following:
OVNM: <Object Class> <Object Name>, Current State = Normal, Previous State =
<CRITICAL|MAJOR|MINOR|WARNING>, MANAGER = <Manager name>, Sampling Interval =
<Sampling Interval defined by user>, Repeat interval = <Repeat Interval>, Violation If: <User Defined
Threshold Policy>, Current: <Current Threshold Value>
2. Exception events
Events generated when a threshold value defined by the user for a threshold type is violated. The template
used to log these events is the following:
OVNM: <Object Class> <Object Name>, Current State = <CRITICAL|MAJOR|MINOR|WARNING>,
Previous State = NORMAL, MANAGER = <Manager name>, Sampling Interval = <Sampling Interval
defined by user>, Repeat interval = <Repeat interval>, Violation If: <User Defined Threshold Policy>,
Current: <Current Threshold Value>
3. Escalation events
If an object remains in the Exception State for more time than specified by the user, then the violation state
of the object must be escalated so more emphasis is placed on this violation. Then the object is in the
Escalation State and an event will be generated to notify about this condition. This is the template used to
log such events.
OVNM: <Object Class> <Object name>, Current State = <CRITICAL|MAJOR|MINOR|WARNING>,
Previous State = <CRITICAL|MAJOR|MINOR|WARNING >, MANAGER = <Manager name>, Sampling
Interval = <Sampling Interval>, Repeat interval = <Repeat Interval>, Violation If: <User Defined Threshold
Policy>, Current: <Current Threshold>
