2-5 DISK
Another major component of a system is the Disk subsystem. The predefined disk counters/modifiers help in a
proactive approach for managing, monitoring and recovering this complex and major subsystem on the NSK
platform.
2-5-1 OBJECT CLASS: DISK
Policy
Description
Operators Allowed
AVAILABLE MB
AVAILABLE MB allows the user to check on the
space available (in MB) in the DISK being
monitored.
The units for Value1 (Low-Value) and Value2 (High-
Value) should always be a number.
• Equal to <value1>
• Not equal to <value1>
• Less than <value1>
• Less than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1>
• Greater than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1> and less
than <value2>
• Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
CAPACITY CAPACITY allows the user to check the total disk
space.
•
Equal to <value1>
• Not equal to <value1>
• Less than <value1>
• Less than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1>
• Greater than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1> and less
than <value2>
• Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
CPU ASSIGNED
CPU ASSIGNED allows the user to check on the
CPU to which the disk’s primary path is assigned.
Value 1 and Value 2 are the CPU numbers.
• Equal to <value1>
• Not equal to <value1>
DISK IS DOWN DISK IS DOWN allows the user to check the state of
DISK.
If it is DOWN, it will be treated as a violation
state, otherwise normal.
No operator.
DISK IS UP
DISK IS UP allows the user to check the state of
DISK. If it is UP, it will be treated as a violation
state, otherwise normal.
No operator.
FILE-LOCK-ACTIVE-TOO-
LONG
This threshold will generate an alert if a lock is
active for 2 consecutive poll intervals.
No operator.
FILE-LOCK-INTENT
This threshold reports every single intent lock that it
finds; regardless of how long the intent is
outstanding.
No operator.
FILE-LOCK-INTENT-TOO-
LONG
This threshold will generate an alert if an intent lock
is active for 2 consecutive poll intervals.
No operator.
FILE-LOCK-PARTICIPANTS
This threshold allows you to test the number of
participants in the active locks.
• Equal to <value1>
• Not equal to <value1>
• Less than <value1>
• Less than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1>
• Greater than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1> and less
than <value2>
• Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
FILE-LOCK-WAIT-TOO-LONG This threshold will generate an alert if a lock is
waiting for 2 consecutive poll intervals.
No operator.
