OVNM 5.3 - Operations Agent for NonStop Object Reference Guide
Threshold Policies 35
2-6 EMS
EMS is the subsystem that handles EVENTS on a NSK node. The counters/modifiers defined for this subsystem
allow the customer to easily monitor and react to any kind of event generated on a NSK system. The EMS
management feature allows the user to trigger actions based on EMS events. This feature allows the customer to
define HP NonStop or Non-HP NonStop events for escalation and automation. Additional slot values as they are
known can also be added for the Tivoli environment. Automation recovery is the most robust feature. Any EMS
event can be automated via Gateway processes or by simple TACL macro commands. This subsystem allows
users a choice of automating recovery of their application events. The user is responsible for making sure the
EMS filters that are used will actually pass the necessary events to OVNM.
2-6-1 OBJECT CLASS: EVENT
Policy
Description
Operators Allowed
EXECUTE-DEFINED-ACTIONS
This threshold type allows the user to execute
defined actions.
No operator
EMPHASIS-TOKEN-TRUE This threshold is used when SSID and Event are all
that are needed to identify the correct EMS
message and you want only those events that
contain the Emphasis Token and it has a True value.
SSID can support * in subsystem portion. For
example: TANDEM.*
No operator
EVENT TEXT MESSAGE
This threshold type allows the user to check for the
specified text message in the event.
When defining EMS events thresholds using EVENT
TEXT MESSAGE/Equals <value 1> at offset <value
2>, it is possible that the timestamp of the EMS
message be included in the body of the text. In this
case, the offset is 24 more than the expected value.
• Contains <value1>
• Equal to <value1>
• Equals <value1> at offset <value2>
EVENT PASS VALUE This threshold type allows the user to check if the
event contains the specified pass value. The valid
values are -32768 to +32767 except 0.
•
Equal to <value1>
• Not equal to <value1>
• Less than <value1>
• Less than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1>
• Greater than or equal to <value1>
• Greater than <value1> and less
than <value2>
• Less than <value1> or greater than
<value2>
EVENT SUBJECT AND
MANAGER
This threshold type allows the user to check if the
event contains the specified subject and manager.
• Equal to <value1>
•
Not equal to <value1>
EVENT SUBJECT This threshold type allows the user to check if the
event contains the specified subject.
•
Equal to <value1>
• Not equal to <value1>
