OVNM 5.3 - Operations Agent for NonStop Troubleshooting Guide
Host Installation Client: Errors & Warnings 37
Table 2-9 During NonStop Node Installation
Sr.No. Error Message and Warning
6.
Possible Causes: The OVNM Host Response for Installation dialog box shows the error “BAD PORT NUMBER OR
ALIAS” when Host Installation Client is unable to connect to the port specified in the Telnet Port or the FTP Port
field in the Host tab page.
Action to be taken: Enter the Telnet port and the FTP port in the Telnet Port and the FTP Port fields respectively and
continue with the installation. These fields accept only positive integers in the range of 0-65535.
7.
Possible Causes: This message box is displayed when you select Other as the service to logon in the Service
Available area and specify a nonexistent service in the corresponding box in the Host tab page. Under this
condition the Host Installation Client is unable to connect to the service and gives this error message that installation
cannot be done.
Action to be taken: The Other field is provided in the Service Available area in case you have a different service
name for the standard OSS or TACL services. The Host Installation Client only provides support for installation using
the standard services (TACL or OSS). If you enter a service, which is neither of the type in the Other box, the
installation will not be successful.
If you select Other as the service to logon and do not specify the service to be used in the corresponding box, it will
be considered a valid entry and a carriage return will be used for the Service name while logging to the HP
NonStop host.
Specify a valid service and reinstall OVNM.
8.
Possible Causes: The OVNM Host Response for Installation dialog box shows the error “PERMISSION DENIED”
when there is a security violation or an illegal operation has been attempted.
Action to be taken: Check whether the volume specified in the Work Subvolume and OVNM Subvolume field in the
Host tab page does not cause security violation and reinstall OVNM.
