VCONF Utility
This section lists all the steps, in chronological order, to be followed to run the OVNPM Configuration Utility,
VCONF It explains how to choose a default editor, set OVNPM environmental variables, change database
retention parameters and edit the list of collected metrics. It describes how to enter the list of collected devices
and product license information, how to build the configuration and to view an estimate of the database size. It
also specifies how to enter accounting parameters, license the collector program, start an OVNPM subsystem,
view OVNPM status and use the exit function.
Starting the Configuration Utility
The Configuration Utility is used for product configuration and maintenance. This chapter explains the sequential
steps to be followed when using the Configuration Utility. For an initial installation, follow the steps of the
Configuration Utility menu in sequence.
To start the OVNPM Configuration Utility, follow the steps below:
1. Logon to the HP NonStop host using the TACL service.
2. Move to the OVNPM TACL subvolume where the installation files have been generated. The default is
OVPMTACL.
3. Enter the following command to display the Configuration Utility menu.
$VOL.OVPMTACL > run vconf
To use the menu, enter the number of a menu item and press the Enter key. You can exit from the Configuration
Utility at any time. All changes you have made up to that point are saved. The next time you run the
Configuration Utility, your previous changes are in effect.
You can perform the following functions using the Configuration Utility:
• Choose an Editor
• Edit the OVNPM Environment
• Edit the Database Retention Parameters
• Edit List of Collected Metrics
• Enter List of Collected Units
• Build Configuration
• Estimate Database Size
• Enter Accounting Parameters
• License the Collector Program
• Start OVNPM Subsystem
• View OVNPM Status
• Exit Configuration Utility
