Editing the OVNPM Environment (Optional)
OVNPM environmental variables are used to specify locations of program, data, and configuration files. They
also store other operating information such as the name, priority, and launching CPU of the processor. These
variables are created and initialized by the OVNPM TACL macro named VGEN. These variables are stored in
the VISLOAD file located in the OVNPM TACL subvolume.
To edit the environment, select the Edit OVNPM environment option by typing 2 as your choice. If the
environment is not loaded, OVNPM asks for the volume and subvolume where the file VISLOAD resides.
Creating the OVNPM Environment
Step 1: The utility asks you to accept the default environment. Enter Y (yes) to this choice. The utility then asks you
to accept the default subvolume name.
Step 2: To accept the files from the default subvolume, enter Y. To refuse the default subvolume name, reply N.
Step 3: If you did not accept the default (previous reply was N), OVNPM prompts for a different volume and
subvolume. Enter a volume and subvolume name.
OVNPM builds an initial environment and displays it for you to review. You can accept the environment or you
can customize the environment.
Editing Environment Variables
OVNPM uses the editor EDIT or TEDIT to open the current VISLOAD environment file.
NOTE:
Locate the following line in the VISLOAD File:
===== Set Environment variables =====
Only change lines after this point. Do not delete any lines in the file
To edit the environmental variables follow the steps below:
Step 1: Modify the values of environmental variables to meet the needs of your site. Lines that you can change
have the following format:
#SET parameter value == comment
Step 2: Change only the portion of the line identified as value.
Step 3: End the edit session.
Example of an environmental variable:
#SET OVNPM^vsv^tacl $OLD.OVPMTACL == Vol.Subvol.Tacl
