OVNPM 1.5.2 - Performance Agent for NonStop Server Monitoring Guide

Appendix B 85
Entering Accounting Parameters
This procedure schedules OVNPM disk and spooler accounting data collection.
You must schedule data capture capability for disk and/or spooler in order to run these specific usage reports.
Data capture is performed by batch programs, which are run at a time you specify.
In this procedure, you schedule the time data collection to execute each day as well as additional run-time
controls. You also can modify the list of disks and spoolers for which data is captured.
modify the list of disks and spoolers for which data is captured.
Entering and Changing Accounting Parameters
From the installation menu, select the Enter accounting parameters option. OVNPM automatically displays the
current settings for the accounting parameters and the disks and spoolers eligible for data collection. The utility
then asks if you want to change any of this information.
Enter Y (yes) to change any parameters. OVNPM displays a dialog box for each of the two collection
functions. The first dialog box sets disk collection parameters; the second dialog box sets spooler collection
parameters.
Setting Collection Parameters
The first question in each dialog box asks if you want to schedule collection for the resource type.
If you reply Y (yes), the collection function is scheduled and you set collection parameters via the dialog box.
If you reply N (no), then the collection function is not scheduled.
Description of the parameters in each dialog box is presented in the following table:
Parameter Description
Progfile
The name of the collection program:
disk collector XCDISC
spooler collector XCSPOOL
Process
Any valid name assigned to the process associated with the program
Start time
Time of day the collection program should execute
Cpu
CPU on which the collection program should execute
This should be the CPU with the lightest load
Pri
Run priority of the process
Modifying the List of Collected Disks
OVNPM asks if you want to modify the list of disks eligible for data collection. If you reply Y (yes), an edit
session automatically opens for the file containing the list of eligible disks.
Edit this file to add or delete disk names. Use one line for each name. The name can appear anywhere on the
line.
Modifying the List of Collected Spoolers
OVNPM asks if you want to modify the list of spoolers eligible for data collection. If you reply Y (yes), an edit
session automatically opens for the file containing the list of eligible spoolers.
Edit this file to add or delete spooler names. Use one line for each name. The name can appear anywhere on the
line.
Licensing the Collector Program
To read HP NonStop operating system tables, the OVNPM Basic Collector must be granted “license”
authorization. Only the user SUPER.SUPER is allowed to grant this license.
To license the Collector, SUPER.SUPER issues the following command:
FUP LICENSE $<volume>.OVPMEXE.BC
Where, VOLUME is the location of the OVNPM restored files.
