This chapter lists out the benefits of Performance Monitor and highlights the advantages this software offers.
1-1 What is HP Performance Monitor?
The Performance Monitor (PM) tool delivers easy-to-use performance monitoring and tracking for the HP NonStop
environment. Built to manage environments of all sizes, Performance Monitor scales with the rapid growth of your
environment and expands with your monitoring needs. It provides a highly flexible solution that allows the
measurement of your service level standards and planning for future business needs.
The mission for Performance Monitor is to deliver 100% availability of all HP NonStop resources and to keep a
close eye on the performance of devices, servers and applications in your infrastructure.

• Real-Time Supervision: Monitors and analyzes real-time, in-depth performance metrics on the HP NonStop
Server and pinpoints production problems that have just occurred, before service degradation occurs.
• Detects Network Bottlenecks: Performance monitor detects network bottlenecks, and identifies resources in
short supply.
• In-Depth Analysis: It enables the system support to investigate production anomalies and eliminate recurring
incidents by pinpointing their causes. It also enables advanced monitoring for correlated events, sustained
conditions, and complex combinations of states.
