1 Configuration Quick Start
This section provides PAM startup examples using the persistence manager and HP
Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL) and configuration examples for SNAX
and port clients. If you prefer to read introductory material about PAM before
proceeding with this quick start, see Section 2, Introduction.
Task Summary: Configuring PAM
1. Start the PAM manager process.
2. Select a running LIF and determine the primary and backup processors.
3. Start PAM using the persistence manager or a TACL RUN command. Choose one
of the options for Task 3. (For considerations about the auto-restart feature in the
persistence manager, see Note on page 2-13.)
4. Skip this task if you specified STARTUP and MSAPSTARTUP in Task 3. Start the
LINE object and then start the MSAP object.
Task 1: Start PAM Manager Process
1. Start the PAM manager process.
Task 2: Identify the LIF and CPUs
1. Get a list of running LIFs.
2. Select a running LIF and perform a STATUS LIF.
3. Check the processors located in the CPUs with Data Path field. Any of these
processors can be the primary or backup processor.
Note. When the PAM process starts, it adds MSAP #SNATR automatically and either starts or
does not start MSAP #SNATR depending on whether MSAPSTARTUP or MSAPSTARTDOWN
is specified.
