Generic Processes
Generic Processes
A generic process is created by the operating system or a user to perform a task.
PAMMAN is a generic process controlled by the persistence manager. $ZZPAM and
other PAM processes are also system-managed, generic processes. For more detailed
information about generic processes, see the SCF Reference Manual for the Kernel
Subsystem.
The remainder of this section describes the SCF commands for controlling and
managing PAM.
ABORT Command
ABORT is a sensitive command used to halt an object’s operation as quickly as
possible. Only enough processing is done to ensure that the object can run again when
it is restarted.
ABORT LINE Command
The ABORT LINE command halts the operation of the specified LINE as quickly as
possible and prevents access to the associated LIF. Only enough processing is done to
ensure that the LINE object can run again when it is restarted. The LINE object is left in
the STOPPED state if the command is successful.
