About This Manual
This manual provides subsystem-specific information about the management
programming interface provided by Tandem for managing the Port Access Method
(PAM) subsystem. This interface is based on the Subsystem Programmatic Interface
(SPI) and the Event Management Service (EMS). This manual includes the following
information:
Descriptions of the definitions provided by the PAM subsystem for use in the
management programming interface
Detailed descriptions of all programmatic commands that can be sent to the PAM
objects and the corresponding responses
Detailed descriptions of all event messages that the PAM subsystem can generate
Detailed descriptions of all error lists that can be returned in response to PAM
commands
Who Should Use This Manual
This manual is written for experienced application programmers in one of the following
categories:
TAL, C, Pascal, and COBOL85 programmers using ENTER TAL, who are writing
management applications that control or monitor the PAM subsystem
TACL users who are writing macro routines that control or monitor the PAM
subsystem
This manual assume you are familiar with the Himalaya S-series server architecture,
Tandem’s Data Definition Language (DDL), the PAM subsystem, and the language in
which you are programming (TAL, C, Pascal, COBOL85, or TAL).
