PAMMA N
PAMMAN. See PAM Manager (PAMMAN) process.
PORT object. A programmatic interface that provides applications with link-level access
points (LSAPs). Through the LSAPs, a client or an application process that is running
on a server can access a local area network (LAN) through file-system procedure calls.
The PORT object provides the following types of LSAPs: Ethernet, LLC1, and LLC2.
PROCESS object. Used to define a PAM process. The name of the PROCESS object and
the LINE object is always the same and represents the access to a logical interface (LIF).
RESET parameter. A parameter for the SCF STATS command. It resets the statistical
counters.
RESETSTATS command. A sensitive SPI command that returns the current values in an
object’s statistics counters and resets the counters. Equivalent to the SCF STATS
command with the RESET parameter.
SCF. See Subsystem Control Facility (SCF)
.
SCP. See Subsystem Control Point (SCP)
.
SDU. See service data unit (SDU)
.
sensitive command. A command that can be issued only by a user with super ID access, by
the owner of the subsystem, or by a member of the group of the owner of the subsystem.
For Tandem communications subsystems, the sensitive commands can change the state
or configuration of objects, start or stop tracing, or change the values of statistics
counters. See also nonsensitive command
.
service data unit (SDU). The information passed across the network to a peer entity and then
up to the next layer.
ServerNet LAN Systems Access (SLSA) subsystem. A communications subsystem that
provides an architecture that supports parallel local area network (LAN) input/output
(I/O). This architecture allows Himalaya S-series servers to communicate across a
ServerNet system area network (ServerNet SAN) and access Ethernet devices through
various LAN protocols.
session service access point (SSAP). A network-unique address in the Session Layer through
which connections are established and maintained. Also called session address.
SESSION object. Defines a link station for LLC2-type connections and is used to define a
SNAX/XF or SNAX/APN session over a token-ring local area network (LAN).
signal quality error (SQE). A test sequence transmitted on the collision pair of the
attachment unit interface (AUI) transceiver cable after every successful transmission
onto the media. This signal quality error (SQE) test sequence should be disabled when a
medium attachment unit (MAU) is connected to a repeater, such as Electrical
Conversion Module-320 (ECM-320) concentrators.
