HELP
HELP. An SCF command that displays information about commands and objects used to
manage the PAM subsystem.
Himalaya S-series servers. The set of servers in the Himalaya range of servers having
product numbers beginning with the letter “S.These servers run the Tandem NonStop
Kernel operating system and implement the ServerNet architecture.
INFO. A nonsensitive SCF command that displays the current or default attributes of the
specified object.
interactive input. Interactive input from a terminal is characterized by the entry of a
command followed by a carriage return. When a process is used for both input and
output, the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) waits for the process to send a request and
treats the process in the same manner as a terminal.
LAN. See local area network (LAN)
.
LANMAN. See LAN manager (LANMAN) process

LAN manager (LANMAN) process. The LAN manager process is provided as part of the
SLSA subsystem. It is started and managed by the NonStop Kernel subsystem
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) product module. It is started as a generic process and
runs as a NonStop process pair in the host system processors. The LAN manager process
starts and manages the SLSA subsystem objects. The LAN manager process also starts
the LAN monitor (LANMON) process and assigns ownership of Ethernet adapter to the
LAN monitor processes in the system through an access list. SCF commands are
directed to the LAN manager processes for configuring and managing the SLSA
subsystem and the Ethernet adapters. The LAN manager process is named $ZZLAN,
which is built by $ZZKRN and maintained by the $ZPM persistence manager. See also

LIF. See logical interface
.
LINE object. Controls access to the LAN.
LISTDEV. A nonsensitive Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) command that displays
information about the specified devices.
LISTOPENS. A nonsensitive SCF command that displays information about the file-system
opens that apply to the specified object.
LLC1. See logical link control 1 (LLC1) ports
.

.
local area network (LAN). 1) The cables, electrical interfaces, workstations, and other
devices that are interconnected and that are physically located in close proximity to each
other. One or more LANs can be connected to the system such that the LAN users can
access the system as if their workstations were connected directly to it. (2) A network
