Pathmaker Messages Manual
1 Pathmaker Messages Format
067870 Tandem Computers Incorporated 1–1
This manual lists in alphabetic order the Pathmaker messages that you can receive
while running the Pathmaker product. For each message, you will find:
Cause. Why this message was produced.
Effect. What action Pathmaker took.
Recovery. Strategy suggested to correct the error or warning.
This book includes messages from several sources:
Pathmaker A subset of the messages given by the Pathmaker product.
Confirmation messages, such as Requester added, are not
included.
PMADL Messages generated by the Pathmaker Application Definition
Language, which provides a syntax-based interface for
accessing Pathmaker projects and project catalogs.
Generated application Messages given in the generated application. You can rewrite
these messages and add messages of your own. Therefore,
this list might not be a complete list of messages that a user
could receive in the generated application.
See the Pathmaker Programming Guide for information about
rewriting error messages.
Utility programs Messages produced by the Pathmaker utility programs,
HELPUTIL, PMPROJECT, and PMINSTAL.
This section describes message types and their formats.
Pathmaker Messages Most Pathmaker messages have no special characters preceding the message. A subset
of Pathmaker messages, those issued by the Harmony process, are preceded by a
series of four asterisks. The Harmony process is a TAL process that is invoked when
you first run the Pathmaker product. Harmony puts an entry into the active terminal
file (ACTIVE) in the project catalog to note that you are currently running a Pathmaker
session.
The general format of Harmony messages is:
****
message-text
To make the Harmony messages easier to find in the alphabetic listing in this manual,
all special characters have been removed from the beginning of the message.
The Harmony messages are alphabetized by
message-text
.
There is also a subset of messages issued by the Screen Painter that are preceded by
the word PAINTER. These messages have the format:
PAINTER -
