Requester Development Overview
Creating Requesters

The Default Screen Part of defining a requester is specifying the screen attributes that the Pathmaker
product will use to generate the layout of the default screen. This is the same screen
layout that the end user will use to operate the requester, unless you change it.
Information that the Pathmaker product uses to create a default screen comes from:
The DDL dictionary
Information that you have entered through Pathmaker screens.
Examples of information used by the Pathmaker product to create the default screen
include:
Screen title
Screen fields and their order
Headings for screen fields
Function key prompts
Video attributes
Any time after a requester has been added, you can instruct the Pathmaker product to
display the current image of the end user screen. The current screen will either be the
default screen (the one the Pathmaker product created for you) or the modified screen
(the default screen with any changes you made using Screen Painter).
Note The current screen can be shown using Simulation or Screen Painter.
Modifying the Default
Screen
If you want to change the layout of the default screen, there are two methods
available:
Change information that affects screen layout on the Pathmaker requester
definition screens. (With this method your changed screen is still considered the
default screen.)
Modify the image of the default screen with Screen Painter. (Your changed screen
is considered a modified screen.)
Note A few screen modifications can be achieved only with Screen Painter. You can go back to the default
screen (thus, wiping out any changes you have made with Screen Painter) by instructing the Pathmaker
product to re-create the default screen.
