Creating Requesters
for 3270 Terminals
You can use the Pathmaker product to create applications for IBM 3270 terminals. If
you are creating an application for a 3270 terminal, you must specify the terminal type
as 3270 on the Requester Definition screen. On the Function Key Assignment screen,
you must indicate whether you are creating an application for a 12-function or
24-function keyboard. All of an application’s requesters must be created for the same
terminal type; you cannot use 3270 requesters and 6520/6530 requesters together in a
single application.
If you indicate that you are creating an application for a 12-function keyboard, note
that the application you create will access PF13 through PF24 by pressing the ENTER
key and the function keys PF1 through PF12, respectively. The default function key
prompts for a 12-function keyboard read PF13 through PF24; you must rewrite them if
you want the generated application to indicate a different key sequence.
The Pathmaker product supports 24 function keys. The Pathmaker product always
supports the PA1 and PA2 keys; it does not support the additional PA keys.
Figure 5-15 is an example of a transaction requester screen created for a 3270 terminal
with a 24-function keyboard.
