7 Finishing and Installing the
Application

Several Pathway command files must be created and a special service-to-serverclass
mapping requester must be generated before a Pathway application created using the
Pathmaker product can be run. To assist you with this task, the Pathmaker product
provides:
Several screens in which you specify some of the information needed in these
command files
A utility called PMPROJECT (the INSTALL subcommand) that can be used to
actually generate these files
After the application is installed, you are ready to run your Pathway system and test
the requesters and servers that make up your Pathmaker application.
This section explains how to complete a Pathmaker application. The beginning of this
section covers standard techniques for finishing and installing a Pathmaker
application. The last part of this section covers a special installation topic: how to
install an application that was created by using more than one Pathmaker project.
The topics in this section include:
Servers and server classes—Lists the steps for assigning server classes and
generating the mapping requester.
Installing an application for testing—Explains how to install the generated
application into a test system.
Installing an application in the production system—Lists the files you need to
move to the production system and describes how to move them.
Merging Pathmaker projects—Describes how to develop a single application from
more than one Pathmaker project and how to merge the portions developed
separately.
