8 Maintaining Pathmaker
Applications

After the application has been installed and tested, the need to change the application
is inevitable. Requester and server programs might need to be added or modified, the
active server class for a service remapped, or the help text rewritten. If you make
major changes in the design of the requester and server modules, you should reinstall
the entire application; however, there are many changes you can make without
reinstalling the entire application. For example, you can:
Change screen decorations or screen layout
Reassign the active server class for a service
Repackage services into servers
Add, modify, or delete help text
Add, modify, or delete requesters
Add, modify, or delete services
Add, modify, or delete servers
Modify the database
For most of these maintenance tasks, you will want to use Enform to assess the impact
of the intended changes to your application. The Pathmaker Reference Manual contains
detailed information about the set of Enform queries supplied by Tandem to generate
reports on Pathmaker projects.
