Field Descriptions The following paragraphs describe the fields on the Service Definition screen.
Service Name
Displays the name of the service from the Pathmaker Main Menu, if you entered one
there before coming to this screen.
Enter the name of a service, the leading characters of a name, or blanks and press F4 to
display information for the first service in the project catalog that can be associated
with the value you enter. To see each succeeding service, press F5.
To add a new service, enter the name of the service, define its information on this
screen, and press F1. A service name begins with a letter, is 1 through 30
alphanumeric characters or hyphens (-) in length, and is not a COBOL or C reserved
word. For example, JOB-DATA-SVC is a valid service name.
To display information for all existing services in the project, press F9 to access the
Service Value List screen.
Created By and At
Displays the user ID of the person who owns the service, and the date and time the
service was created. You cannot enter data into these fields.
Modified By and At
Displays the user ID of the person who last modified this service, and the date and
time the service was modified. You cannot enter data into these fields.
Service Type
Enter the service type. Services can be:
CUSTOM A service that you create using the Service Definition screen. This is the
default value.
REG A registered service is one that you write outside of the Pathmaker
environment. The Pathmaker program does not generate a registered
service as part of the current project. Include the registered service’s
name in the Pathmaker project catalog so that a Pathmaker service can
call it.
Only the Service Name and Service Type fields are necessary for
registered services.
If you list the definition of a standard service, this field displays STD.
Language
Enter the name of the language in which the service is written, that is, COBOL or C.
