Simulation Screen Use the Simulator to view the series of screens you have defined for the user interface.
You begin simulation by typing a requester name in the Requester Name field next to
the word
Simulation
on the Pathmaker Main Menu and pressing F8. The message
"Initiating Simulator" is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
From the first simulated requester, you can navigate to any requester that the first
requester calls as long as the other requester is defined in the Pathmaker product.
From the second level requester, you can navigate to third level requesters, and so on.
You can update the requester or edit the requester screen by going to the Requester
Definition series of screens directly from the Simulator. When you finish the changes,
press F16 to return to the simulation that shows the newly modified screens.
You cannot enter or display data in a simulated screen. You can operate all the
function keys that have been assigned for the requester:
If the action is a CALL, the Simulator displays the screen for the called requester.
If the action is a SEND, the Simulator displays a message in the advisory line
acknowledging the SEND. No actual database operation is performed.
As with the Screen Painter, most of your terminal screen shows the application screen
for the requester. Functions available in the Simulator are initially displayed in the
advisory line at the bottom of the screen. All other function keys simulate the
functions that you defined for your requester, such as DFLT, RCVR, or HELP. For
example, if you specified F15 as the help key for your application, you will get the
message
Help text displayed
when you press F15 in the simulator.
You can print your requester screens directly from simulation. Press the SHIFT and
ROLL DOWN keys simultaneously to print the screen on the device you specified
when you added this Pathmaker project.
You cannot return to a requester that you did not previously visit within the current
simulation session, so you should start simulating at the topmost requester that you
want to visit during this session.
