The Pathmaker Reference Manual has been revised to document enhancements for
Pathmaker Release 3.
Section 1, “Pathmaker Screens,” includes new user interface screens that support:
Generation of C language services and servers.
Generation of embedded SQL statements that implement common database
operations for a single NonStop SQL table.
Registration of macros and copy libraries in a Pathmaker project catalog.
Registration of services and servers written outside of the Pathmaker product.
Section 2, “Pathmaker Application Definition Language (PMADL),” describes the new
syntax-based interface for the Pathmaker product. Using PMADL, users can describe
any Pathmaker object which can be described in the full-screen interface. Some
operations, such as making a global change to a set of requesters, can be less tedious
and less likely to produce errors if you use PMADL.
Section 3, “Macro Language,” gives the syntax for the new macro language which
replaces the Pathmaker skeleton language. Appendix B provides an example of the
macro language and Appendix C gives the syntax for the server and requester
construct variables used with the language.
Section 5, “Utilities,” includes new functions for PMPROJECT and PMINSTAL that aid
you in installing and converting your Pathmaker projects.
In addition, the manual has been revised to reflect changes in terminology used to
describe NonStop systems. The operating system for Tandem NonStop systems,
formerly called the Guardian operating system, is now called the Tandem NonStop
Kernel. This changes reflects Tandem’s current and future operating system
enhancements that further enable open systems and application portability.
