PMINSTAL Command Tandem supplies the PMDEFLT file for the Pathmaker product on the SUT. The
PMDEFLT file, together with other Pathmaker software files, is moved to the DSV and
ISV subvolumes when you run the INSTALL program. PMINSTAL resides on the
Pathmaker ISV—the subvolume from which PMINSTAL distributes the Pathmaker
software. The default ISV subvolume name is ZPATHMKR.
Before using PMINSTAL, decide where to install the Pathmaker software—on the ISV
subvolume, or on another subvolume.
Caution Tandem recommends that you do not install the Pathmaker software on the Installation Subvolume (ISV).
The Tandem Install program overwrites all files on the ISV. Thus, if you were to install the Pathmaker
product on that subvolume, later versions of Pathmaker software installed on the ISV would overwrite
existing Pathmaker files.
If You Install the Pathmaker Software on the ISV
Copy and rename the PMDEFLT configuration file on the ISV, and then edit it as
necessary. When you use PMINSTAL, specify the new name of the configuration file.
If You Install the Pathmaker Software on Another Subvolume
Give the PMDEFLT configuration file a new file name and copy it from the ISV to the
target installation subvolume. The target installation subvolume can be any
subvolume you choose for this release of the Pathmaker product to reside on.
Renaming the PMDEFLT file is important, because PMINSTAL overwrites all files in
the target installation subvolume whose file names match file names on the ISV.
PMINSTAL will overwrite your edited configuration file if you do not give it a new
name.
