Macro Registration
Screen
Use the Macro Registration screen to register code macros as Pathmaker objects.
Macro code is stored in EDIT source files that you reference on this screen.
Macros are written using the Pathmaker macro language and either COBOL or C.
Macros can eliminate the need for COPY files and provide a more controlled
environment for code sharing. Refer to Section 3, “Macro Language,” for details about
this language.
Registering a macro:
Allows you to write service code that invokes a macro using the macro’s logical
name. The logical name is mapped to a physical disk file name by the Pathmaker
software when a server containing the service is generated.
Lets you document the macro in the Pathmaker catalog.
Enables Pathmaker to track the macro source file and move it during PMPROJECT
EXPORT/IMPORT.
You can also use this registration screen to gain these benefits for copy libraries that
you do not intend to use as macros.
The registration information does not affect how the macro is to be expanded. Most
attributes only provide documentation.
