command file
command file. A file that serves as a source for command input. For example, you can
prepare a command file containing PATHCOM, PXMCOM, or SCREEN COBOL
Utility Program (SCUP) commands. You can then cause the commands in the file to be
executed by issuing the OBEY command in PATHCOM, PXMCOM, or SCUP and
specifying the name of the file. Alternatively, you can specify this file as the input file
when you run PATHCOM, PXMCOM, or SCUP.
command interpreter. An interactive program used to run programs, check system status,
create and delete disk files, and alter hardware states.
command terminal. A terminal at which a system manager or operator enters commands for
configuration or management, such as the PATHCOM commands that configure and
manage a PATHMON environment or the PXMCOM commands that manage a
Compaq NonStop™ Pathway/XM environment. See also application terminal

complex instruction-set computing (CISC). A processor architecture based on a large
instruction set, characterized by numerous addressing modes, multicycle machine
instructions, and many special-purpose instructions. See also reduced instruction-set
computing (RISC).
configuration. The definition or alteration of characteristics of an object. See also object
.
configuration file. (1) In a Pathway environment without Pathway/XM, a PATHMON
configuration file; that is, a disk file in which a particular PATHMON process maintains
configuration information for the objects under its control. The name of this file is
PATHCTL. (2) In a Pathway/XM environment, a source file containing configuration
information used to build the SuperCTL file. See also configuration source file

SuperCTL file. (3) When using the SCUP CONVERT command to convert a SCREEN
COBOL program to a Compaq NonStop™ Pathway/iTS web client, a file containing
default values used by the converter.
