Information to Include When Reporting Problems
When requesting help from your Compaq representative in resolving a problem with
your Pathway/XM environment, you can greatly enhance the representative’s ability to
help you by providing certain information about your environment.
Pathway/XM Environment
The following files and information apply to the Pathway/XM environment as a whole.
Product Versions of Pathway/XM Components
Use the VPROC procedure from your TACL prompt to get the product version for the
applicable Pathway/XM components, as follows:
>VPROC
Enter filename:
>$vol.subvol.PXMCFG
>$vol.subvol.PXMCOM
>$vol.subvol.PATHMON
>$vol.subvol.ROUTER
>$vol.subvol.SCOBOLX
>$vol.subvol.SCUP
>$vol.subvol.TCP
where $vol.subvol is the system volume and subvolume on which the desired
component resides.
Event Log and CONFLIST
Be sure to collect any Pathway/XM and EMS log files. Also include the
$SYSTEM.SYSnn.CONFLIST file.
Configuration and Startup Information
Make the SuperCTL file available to your Compaq representative, along with the
PXMCFG command file used to create it. Also, use PXMCOM commands to display
information about Pathway/XM objects at the time of the problem. For example:
> PXMCOM superctl-file
>> TRACELOG tlog-file
>> INFO SERVER server-class-name
>> EXIT
where superctl-file is the name of the SuperCTL file, tlog-file is the name of
a trace-log file that is to contain a record of the PXMCOM session, and server-
class-name is the name of the server class associated with the problem.
Whenever possible, use the TRACELOG command to save a record of all commands
and output from your PXMCOM session and provide a copy of the trace-log file to your
