Managing Clients and Requesters
This section describes operations you need to perform to manage and maintain
requester-related objects in a Compaq NonStop™ Pathway/XM environment. Most of
the information in this section pertains to terminal requesters (SCREEN COBOL
requesters, which run as threads within TCPs).
Only limited management is available for Pathsend requesters. You can monitor
information about them, and some global management objects (such as PATHMON
processes) affect their operation. Management of Pathsend requesters, along with their
servers, is covered in Monitoring Pathsend Requesters and LINKMON Processes
on
page 7-23.
The following topics are included:
Starting and Stopping Client and Requester Objects
Starting TCPs
To start a TCP associated with a specific terminal, all TCPs associated with a defined
group of terminals, or all TCPs in the Pathway/XM environment, use the START TCP
command.
For example, the following command starts the TCP that manages the terminal named
TERM-1:
>> START TCP TERM-1
The next command starts the TCPs that manage the terminals in terminal group ABC:
>> START TCP GROUP ABC
The next command starts all TCPs in the Pathway/XM environment:
>> START TCP *
