Use of Existing NonStop™ TS/MP and Pathway
Software
In addition to distributed server classes for dynamic load balancing, Pathway/XM also
provides direct and replicated server classes for backward compatibility with existing
applications.
Use of Existing NonStop™ TS/MP and Pathway
Software
Pathway/XM is layered on top of the PATHMON/PATHCOM management interface
provided by the NonStop™ TS/MP and Compaq NonStop™ Pathway/iTS products. It
uses the features of these products and adds a new overall architecture, with some new
processes. Many of the Pathway/XM management commands are identical or similar to
PATHCOM commands. Other commands are new or significantly different.
Pathway/XM allows you to run existing Pathway application programs—that is, those
written to run under NonStop™ TS/MP and Pathway/iTS without Pathway/XM—
without recoding or recompiling. Depending on how your applications are coded, some
coding changes might be needed in order to take full advantage of the features of the
Pathway/XM environment (for example, if PATHMON names are hard-code in
requesters or link management is assumed in a server process, some recoding may be
required); however, you can make these changes gradually over time.
Supported Releases
