CONTROL TERM
CONTROL TERM
This command changes the file name for a TERM object while the device is running and
permanently records the change in the SuperCTL.
If the device is not running when you issue this command, the PATHMON process
returns an error.
term-name
specifies the name of a TERM object.
file-name
specifies the new file name for the TERM object.
Considerations
•
Changes made by the CONTROL TERM command are permanently recorded in the
initial configuration portion of the SuperCTL configuration file. The changed values
are used by all START PATHWAY commands when starting the system.
•
The CONTROL TERM command is commonly used to assign terminal device or
process names to dummy terminals, which are TERM objects that were originally
configured with no SET TERM FILE attribute defined.
You can also use this command to change the terminal device or process name for a
TERM object that already has a FILE attribute value assigned. In this case, you must
first use the STOP TERM command to stop the terminal.
•
The CONTROL TERM command is unlike other CONTROL commands in that the
effect is permanent.
