VOLUME
VOLUME
This command temporarily defines a default physical node, volume, and/or subvolume
for the expansion of any Guardian file names associated with objects in the
Pathway/XM environment, except command-file names used with the OBEY command.
Guardian file names specified in SET commands are expanded with the current value
defined by the VOLUME command.
\node
specifies the physical node name of the default system. If you omit this attribute,
your default system does not change.
$volume
specifies the volume to be used for file expansion. If you omit this attribute, your
logon default volume becomes the current default volume. If the current default
system is a remote system, you cannot specify a new current default volume that has
more than six characters after the dollar sign ($).
subvolume
specifies the subvolume to be used for file expansion. If you omit this attribute, your
logon default subvolume becomes the current default subvolume.
Considerations
•
Once a VOLUME command is executed, it remains in effect until either another
VOLUME command is executed or the PXMCOM session ends. Thus, if a
VOLUME command specifies the node \MARS, all Guardian file names
subsequently specified without a physical node name are expanded with \MARS.
If you issue the VOLUME command again to assign the node \DALLAS, all
subsequent Guardian file names specified without physical node names are
expanded with the \DALLAS node name. Previous file names resolved with the
\MARS node are not changed.
•
The VOLUME command is in effect only for the duration of the current PXMCOM
session.
•
This command is similar to the NonStop
TM
TS/MP CMDVOL command.
