Configuring the Pathway/XM
Environment
This section describes how to get started in configuring a Compaq NonStop
Pathway/XM environment. It provides general information about the configuration
process, and also describes how to configure global parameters and objects for the
Pathway/XM environment.
After you have finished following the procedures described in this section, refer to
Section 5, Configuring Clients and Requesters
, to configure Pathway/XM objects for
requesters and to Section 6, Configuring Servers, to configure objects for servers.
The following topics are included:
Installation and System Generation Requirements
If you are configuring a Pathway/XM environment that is to span multiple Compaq
NonStop
TM
Himalaya systems, you must install the Pathway/XM software (using the
Install program or the DSM/SCM utility) on all systems on which any Pathway/XM
processes will run. In addition, you must ensure that the Pathway/XM software is
installed in the same subvolume name on all systems. The volume names can be
different.
For example, on one system you could install the Pathway/XM product files in
$SYSTEM.PXM; on another system you could install the product files in
$SYS03.PXM.
When performing system generation with SYSGEN, you must configure a large enough
maximum number of processes per CPU. For further information, refer to Checking
Process Capacity on page 4-6.
