Configuration Limits and Defaults
Table C-1 lists global limits for various items within a Compaq NonStop
Pathway/XM environment.
Table C-1. Global Pathway/XM Environment Limits
Item Limits Per Pathway/XM environment
ASSIGNs Maximum total of 4095 for all server classes.
Components Internal table limit of 64 KB within each PATHMON environment for the
total of all components, which includes SERVER objects, server processes,
ASSIGNs, PARAMs, TCP processes, LINKMON and LCS and PB
processes, TELL objects, and TERM objects.
Internal table limit of 4 KB within each PATHMON environment for each of
the following components: SERVER objects, server processes, ASSIGNs,
PARAMs, DEFINEs, TCP processes, TELL objects, and TERM objects.
LINKMON
processes
One per CPU.
PATHMON processes: Maximum of 256 PATHMON processes with which a
LINKMON process can communicate.
Server classes: Maximum of 1024 server classes to which a LINKMON
process can have outstanding links across all PATHMON environments.
Links to server processes: Maximum of 1750 concurrent links to server
processes across all PATHMON environments, per LINKMON process.
Maximum concurrent links to the same server process, per LINKMON
process, is the value of LINKDEPTH.
Concurrent SERVERCLASS_SEND operations: Maximum of 512
concurrent, outstanding send calls per LINKMON process. (See also the
limits for send operations for all links.)
Links Only one SCREEN COBOL program at a time can use a link (by performing
a SEND).
Only one PathSend process at a time can use a link.
Maximum of 512 concurrent send operations per CPU.
Maximum of 256 send operations per server process.
NODE
objects
Maximum of 256.
PATHMON
processes
Maximum of 256.
PATHWAY
object
One per Pathway/XM environment. A Pathway/XM environment may
manage multiple PATHMON environments.
PROGRAM
objects
Each PATHMON process supports a maximum of 1048064 minus the
number of TCP objects generated by PXMCFG.
Maximum of 100 concurrent waited RUN PROGRAM requests from
PATHCOM processes. For nowaited operations, maximum of 4095
multiplied by the number of PATHMON environments.
