Configuring the Pathway/XM Environment

Specifying the Default Home Terminal
runs with the specified priority value minus an offset value associated with the type of
process, as follows:
For example, suppose you issue the following SET NODE statement:
SET NODE PRI 125
For client NODE objects with this setting, the PATHMON processes will run at priority
125; the TCPs will run at priority 120; the LCS processes will run at priority 122; and
the associated PB process will run at priority 124. For server NODE objects with this
setting, the server processes will run at priority 115 and the PB process will run at
priority 124.
If no PRI attribute value is specified for the NODE object, the base priority value is set
to the priority at which the PXMCFG process ran when it created the SuperCTL file.
The same offset values are used.
You can override the execution priority specified for NODE objects by using the PRI
attribute when defining TCP objects and SERVER objects.
Specifying the Default Home Terminal
The HOMETERM attribute of the NODE object specifies the name of the default
terminal device to receive Pathway/XM debugging and informational messages about
the processes assigned to the NODE object. If this attribute is omitted, the default is the
terminal from which PXMCFG was run to create the SuperCTL file.
Specifying the Default Guardian Swap Volume
If you are using a version of NonStop™ TS/MP and Pathway/iTS that is earlier than the
D42 version, the GUARDIAN-SWAP attribute of the NODE object specifies the name
of the default disk volume containing the swap file that the operating system uses for
memory swaps of the Pathway/XM processes assigned to the NODE object. If a
subvolume name or file name is given for this attribute, the operating system ignores
them. If this attribute is omitted, the operating system uses the same disk volume that
PXMCFG used when it initialized the Pathway/XM environment.
If you are using a D42 or later version of NonStop™ TS/MP and Pathway/iTS, the
Kernel Managed Swap Facility (KMSF) determines the location of the swap file, and
this attribute is ignored for the purposes of locating the swap file. However, PXMCOM
still uses the GUARDIAN-SWAP attribute to locate the Pathway/XM product files.
Process Type Default Priority Value
PATHMON NODE object priority minus 0
Process broker (PB) NODE object priority minus 1
Link control service (LCS) NODE object priority minus 3
TCP NODE object priority minus 5
Server Process NODE object priority minus 10
