Rolling Configurations
Rolling Configurations
Rolling configurations allow you to update your Pathway/XM configuration online. In
other words, you do not have to stop and then restart your Pathway/XM environment
when migrating to a new configuration.
To prepare for a migration, you use PXMCFG or the Pathway/XM Analyst tool to create
a new SuperCTL file. The PXMCFG INVENTORY statement compares the new
configuration to the currently active SuperCTL file and prepares a migration plan. The
migration plan consists of a set of PLAN objects that contain detailed lists of objects
that need to be added, deleted, or modified.
You use PXMCOM to execute online each plan of the migration. In this release, an
online migration plan can perform the following:
Add new objects of any type
Delete objects of any type
Modify Node objects
Modify distributed SERVER objects
For detailed information on how to migrate to a new configuration, see Migrating
Configurations Online on page 7-19.
