Required and Optional Attributes
In addition, you can specify a number of optional attributes for server classes or accept
default values for them. Among the optional attributes are the following:
Several attributes—DEFINE, ASSIGN, PARAM, IN, OUT, STARTUP, and
VOLUME—affect the Guardian startup message that is sent to new server processes
when they are created.
TYPE Specifies the way Pathway/XM manages the server
processes in the server class, and has three options:
DISTRIBUTED, REPLICATED, and DIRECT.
GROUP Allows you to specify a logical name for a group of server
classes to which this server class belongs and that you want
to manage as a group. When you have configured your
server classes with group names, you can perform
management operations on an entire group of server classes
with a single PXMCOM command.
CMON Allows you to specify whether Pathway/XM allows a user-
written $CMON process to approve or modify the values of
startup parameters for server processes.
HIGHPIN Specifies whether the server processes run at high PINs or
low PINs.
MAXSERVERS Specifies the maximum number of server processes in this
server class that can be run simultaneously.
NUMSTATIC Specifies either the number of server process reservations
plus the number of started server classes available to a
distributed server class or the number of server processes
started, per PATHMON process, by a PXMCOM START
SERVER command for a direct or replicated server class.
NONSTOP Specifies whether the server processes in direct and
replicated server classes run as process pairs.
AUTORESTART Allows you to direct the PATHMON process to attempt to
restart server processes a specified number of times if they
terminate abnormally.
PRI Allows you to set a process priority value for a particular
server class; this value overrides the PRI setting for the
NODE object.
TMF Governs the conditions under which send operations from
requesters to servers are allowed when the Transaction
Management Facility (TMF) is used.
