PCFORMAT Operation Once the target database file(s) have been selected, and the associated
record name(s) are known, the PCFORMAT COPY command can be used.
A typical command looks like:
:PCFORMAT COPY (FORMAT DIF) JAN-SALES AS JANDIF
This command converts the data in the file associated with the DDL record
definition “JAN-SALES” into DIF format in the intermediate (output) file
JANDIF. No options were used in this particular COPY command: the use
of command options is covered in Sections 2 and 3.
Information Xchange
Facility (IXF)
Once PCFORMAT has been used to perform the data conversion, IXF can
be used to transfer the intermediate file to the 654X workstation.
The IXF program is initiated as an MS-DOS external command, so the
EM653X emulator must first be exited to return to MS-DOS. At the
MS-DOS prompt, an IXF GET command is used:
A>IXF GET JANDIF AS B:*.???
As explained in the IXF User’s Guide, this command transfers JANDIF to the
root directory of drive B on the 654X and renames the file JAN.DIF.
