2 Installing HP NonStop POS Transaction Analyzer
This section covers the procedure to install POS/TA on the Microsoft Windows and on the POS HP NonStop
environment on HP NonStop Server.
2-1 Configuration Requirements and Dependencies
2-1-1 HP NonStop Server
• Any NonStop System – S Series or NS Integrity
• Software Release from G06 to H06.07 or later
2-1-2 For POS/TA Database
• Windows 2000, XP, 2003 or Higher Versions
• Memory – I GB (Minimum), (Recommended 2 GB or Above)
• Disk Space – 250 GB or Above
The disk space depends on how many transactions are to be retained in the database for historical/trend
reporting. Approximately 80GB storage is required for a 100 million transactions.
• SQL Server 2000 or above should be installed on any system on the network
• SQL Server port number in case you are not using the default port
• The Login ID (Windows or SQL Authentication) used to create database in SQL Server must have Database
Creator role
2-1-3 For POS/TA Application Server
• Windows 2000, 2003 or Higher Versions
• Memory – I GB (Minimum), (Recommended 2 GB or Above)
• Disk Space – 40 GB or Above
• POS/TA Application Server should be installed on any system on the network
• The user should have ownership of the POS/TA database
• SQL Server Port if the default port is not to be used
• The user should have rights to register and start a service on the machine
• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 should be installed
2-1-4 For POS/TA Web Server
• Windows 2000, XP, 2003 or Higher
• Memory – I GB (Minimum), (Recommended 2 GB or above)
• Disk Space – 40 GB or Above
• IIS 5.0 or above, Microsoft framework 2.0 should be installed.
If <!--pages enableEventValidation="false"--> tag in the web.config file (Drive:\Inetpub\wwwroot\POSTA)
is commented then please remove the comments, else you may receive errors while creating new views.
• Any web browser that is compliant with Microsoft IE 6.0 higher versions
• Database access to the POS/TA database
• Access to the POSMON service on the published port (Specified in Webconfig file)
• POS/TA Database and Application Server should be installed on any system on the network
• SQL Server port number if the default port is not to be used
• For generating reports:
• If using IIS-5 or lower version: Grant rights to the ASPNET user on the root folder
• If using IIS-6 or higher: Grant rights to the Network Service user on the root folder
