1 HP NonStop POS Transaction Analyzer: Overview 
This chapter lists the main features of HP NonStop POS Transaction Analyzer (POS/TA) and highlights the 
advantages this software offers. 
1-1 What is HP NonStop POS Transaction Analyzer? 
HP NonStop POS Transaction Analyzer (POS/TA) is a best-of-breed solution designed to ensure continuous 
monitoring and management of POS (Point-of-Sale) transaction environments by detecting problems before they 
occur. The end result is high availability, higher profitability and greater customer satisfaction. 
Designed for the ACI BASE24™ 5.x/6.x application platform, this out-of-the-box solution provides details about 
POS transactions processed and recorded in the PTLF (POS Transaction Log) file. It identifies traffic on all 
resource nodes defined in targeted logical networks. POS/TA is a web-based solution with a simple and friendly 
graphical user interface, and a secure architecture, providing you with a complete and effective POS transaction 
management system. 
1-2 Why POS/TA? 
The POS software touches numerous facets of our world today. The infrastructure supporting a POS environment 
can be both complex and extremely diverse. The management of such an environment requires a consistent, 
service-oriented and Enterprise-fluent approach. 
POS/TA processes transaction logs in real-time and retrospectively. Key information such as Transaction Rates, 
Percentage of Approved/Denied Transaction and Performance Level of Acquirer & Issuer can be used to create 
reports or alerts when problems occur in the POS network. Real-time monitoring, combined with Threshold 
definitions, allow the user to alert the minute problems occurring within transaction processing environment. An 
example would be to create an alert when transactions to a key institution are failing because Response Codes 
indicate a problem with the Authorization Process. This is also true of transactions timing out or specific 
transactions for a particular service failing. POS/TA provides the Support Team with valuable information and 
the Marketing teams with key product usage information. Reporting can be customized to suit each department: 
HP NonStop support can monitor and be alerted to Response Time problems and key Service Violations whilst 
Service Analysts can look at Transaction Trends.
