Using PTrace to Select, Format, and Display Trace
Records
opens a trace file (and resets some parameters), and displays the number of records in
the file.

Using PTrace to Select, Format, and Display
Trace Records
Three groups of commands control how PTrace selects, formats, and displays trace
records:
Record-selection commands, which establish criteria to which records are
compared.
Record-formatting commands, which determine what part of the trace data to
display and how to display it.
Record-display commands, which display records in the current trace file that have
been selected and formatted according to the record selection and formatting
commands.
The settings of the PTrace options are referred to as session parameters. Each time
you start a PTrace session, the session parameters assume their default values. You
use PTrace commands to change the settings during the PTrace session. The RESET
and FROM commands reset most parameters to their default values. Table 2-1 shows
the default session parameters.
