Record-Selection Commands
The SELECT, DESELECT, SELMASK, FILTER, and LIMIT commands set criteria that
PTrace refers to when selecting records for display.
Using the SELECT Command to Select Records Through
Keywords or Numeric Values
The SELECT command enables PTrace to select records according to the type of
information they contain. You can select records by specifying:
•
Keywords
•
Numbers to represent enumerated values corresponding to keywords
The DESELECT command deletes the trace options specified in a previously entered
SELECT command.
Using the SELMASK Command to Select Records Through
Bit Masks
The SELMASK command provides a 32-bit selection mask. The bit settings in this
mask enable PTrace to select records according to the type of information they
contain.
Each subsystem recognizes a different set of keywords, enumerated values, or
selection masks.
Using the FILTER Command to Set Filtering Criteria
The operation of the FILTER command is determined by each subsystem. When you
use the FILTER command, PTrace provides selection options in addition to those
provided by the SELECT or SELMASK command. Filters affect only those trace
