Record-Display Commands
After PTrace has selected records according to current selection criteria and formatted
them according to current formatting parameters, it sends them to the specified output
device. The FIND, NEXT, and RECORD commands are used to begin PTrace output.
Using the FIND Command to Search For a String
The FIND command examines formatted records for the presence of the character
string you specify. Issuing the FIND command with a character string initiates a search
at the first data record in the file. Also, you can issue a FIND command that restricts
the search to a specific range of record numbers. The first record that meets the
record-selection and filter-selection criteria and that contains the string is displayed.
Issuing the FIND command with no character string initiates a search for the previously
specified string at the record following the current record. The next record that contains
the string is displayed.
If the trace collector cannot keep up with the subsystem process trace, records can be
skipped over (or missed). In this case, a Frames missed message is recorded in the
trace file. You can use the FIND command to detect the missed frames (records).
